Sedation Dentistry Options

Sedation dentistry can allow patients with dental fear and anxiety to get the dental care they need. Dr. Dall’Olmo offers a full range of sedation dentistry options. Dr. Dall’Olmo will review your medical history and discuss your treatment plan before recommending the appropriate sedation option. All forms of sedation will be closely monitored and controlled by an experienced professional.

Oral Conscious Sedation: Oral conscious sedation is administered in the form of a pill. The pill is taken a few hours before your treatment. If patients are under oral conscious sedation, they will need to coordinate a ride to and from our Santa Monica dental office. Patients remain awake, but completely relaxed during treatment.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): Nitrous oxide is administered through a nasal mask. Patients who inhale nitrous oxide will feel the effects right away. Once the mask is removed, the effects of nitrous oxide diminish. Patients remain awake and alert during treatment but will have little to no memory of the procedure.

IV Sedation: Dr. Dall’Olmo is IV sedation certified and offers sedation dentistry for patients who are undergoing complex dental procedures. IV sedation will allow the patient to sleep comfortably during their treatment. IV Sedation can be controlled and will be closely monitored during your treatment.
